Meet the Rascals...
Cross Country Skiing: Sarah Lindell The eastsider! Sarah normally only skies black diamonds on her X-country skies, but for the race she is making an exception. Her plan is to be super smooth in the race, because smooth is steady, and steady is fast. Downhill Snowboarding: Paul Whelan The bearded one! Paul is somewhat of a maverick, he bombs down the mountain on his snowboard at such speeds the airforce is doing research on him trying to make super sonic fighter planes. His plan is to hike through the pain and board like a madman. Running: Sarah Bell The silver bullet! Sarah might actually be a human robot mixture of pure running ability. She has been reported to go through 5 pairs of running shoes a week because she burns rubber when she runs. Her plan is to maintain cardio and finish strong. Bicycling: Josh Jones The double J! Josh is a man with two first names which means he is a man that shouldn't be messed with. According to records he has gotten a total of 3 speeding tickets in his life, all on his bicycle down I-5. His plan is three simple words. Need. For. Speed Canoeing: Jacob Lesser & Jonny Kemp The specialist! Jacob is a man on a mission, what is that mission? To save the world every day because he is actually a superhero. However in the time being he has decided he will just have to settle for destroying the canoe section of the race. His plan is to paddle smart and coordinate strokes. & The redhead! Jonny is literally on fire, and there is not enough water in Whatcom county to change that. It was once rumored that he lifted a car above his head in order to save several small children from a burning building. His plan is to not break his paddle in half mid stroke. Mountain Biking: Tom Laws The lawmaker! Tom does not break the rules, he makes the rules. This year to make the race more challenging he was going to implement a rule requiring all racers to be blindfolded, but that might make it unfair to everyone but him. His plan is to peddle like there is no tomorrow Sea Kayaking: Wendy Lomme The wildcard! Wendy has exhausted all kayaking competition in the Seattle area and is coming to Whatcom is search of new prey. To train for the race she is actually chiseling a new kayak out of granite...with her bare hands. Her plan is to keep an eye on the prize, the little victory bell.
