OUR MISSIONWe provide community-based recreation programs for adults (14 years and older) with developmental disabilities with three broad aims:

ABOUT MAX HIGBEE CENTERAt the Max Higbee Center all of our participants are treated as the perfect person they are. We are not interested in changing our members; we just want to give them the chance to experience new and fun activities in the community and in-house. Our staff provides the support for each individual to achieve their personal best and to feel good about their accomplishments and adventures. We currently offer programs at three different times, with slightly different aims. These programs are: the Community Access Program (CAP), the Drop-In Center, and the Spin Dance. |
This "facility-free" program is all about getting out into the community to explore and learn. Small group excursions focus on life skills such as cooking, shopping, riding public transportation and more.
Every Friday and Saturday evening you can find a group of friends gathered at the Bellingham Senior Center having a good time. This is the 'Drop-In Center'.
On the third Monday of each month (except July) from 7 to 9 pm, the Max Higbee Center co-sponsors the Spin Dance with Bellingham Parks and Recreation at the Bellingham Senior Center.
